VMV Skin Soiree
My sister and I attended VMV Hypoallergenics’ Skin Soiree at their skin research center in 117 C. Palanca St., Legazpi Village, Makati yesterday. Visitors were treated to a free makeover, discounts up to 50% off on products and services, free scrumptious snacks, first look on their VMVery Holiday Gifts Set and *drum roll* a tube of Ooh-La-Lash volumizing mascara worth 1,000 php which we got for free just by signing on the guestbook. :)
Having our makeovers done:

We were greeted by Pam (marketing coordinator) who was very friendly and accommodating. She asked us how we found out about the event, I told her I read about it at projectvanity.com a.k.a. the only beauty blog I religiously read. The make-up artist who did the makeovers was friendly too, she even complimented my outfit and said it reminded her of Una Rosa’s recent collection (she’s a fan, I think). Well, what a coincidence, my sister used to work for Una Rosa as junior designer. They were pretty surprised when they found out because they thought we were just about the same age. Sure I can pass off as 16 but here’s my 26 year old sister often mistaken as an 18 year old. Can’t. Beat. That. -_-
cookies for the guests!
Anyway, here’s a little info about the brand: VMV has been around since 1979, making them one of the first hypoallergenic cosmeceuticals, and the first dermatologist-dermatopathologist skin care brand. All their products contain the least amount or zero cosmetic allergens and are validated hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, preservative-free, non-comedogenic, usage, patch, in vitro, in vivo, + clinically tested. In short, it’s the holy grail for people with sensitive skin! :D
My face still breaks out from time to time even though I’m already taking medication, it’s probably because of the cosmetics I use. I’ve been ingredient-wary for quite a while now (yes, I’m one of those people who actually read the ingredients list. I know… how geeky right? But it does pay off!) but it’s just so hard to find good products that don’t contain harsh ingredients. I’ll definitely be back here or in their other branches once my stash needs restocking and I’ve saved enough allowance to splurge. Thank you so much VMV, we had fun at the soiree and we’re looking forward to the next one! :)
Lunch at New Bombay afterwards :)

YUM! :>

Nail it! Grand Opening
I got invited to Nail it! Salon’s branch grand opening at Greenhills last Saturday by Jariss (a fellow Benildean and Nail it’s head of marketing). I went there with my little sister, Jolina. She’s turning twelve this June but she’s almost as tall as me! I’m wearing 2 inch heels in that photobooth picture by the way. It’s scary how I’m starting to become the little sister. D:
We arrived at the venue around 7pm, the event started at 6. It was my first time in a long, long time to go to Greenhills so it took me a while to find “Connecticut Arcade”. But thank God, we got there safely. I expected to wait for half an hour for my turn since there were a lot of people waiting to be pampered but surprisingly it took less than 15 minutes. After we ate, they told us it’s our turn already.
The lovely miss Jean Uvero, (although you can’t see her loveliness in this photo lol) owner of Nail it! and Lay Bare waxing salon, taking photos of customers being pampered. Before I took this shot, I saw her smiling at me and looking as if she just took my photo or maybe, someone beside me… and I just stared at her. Guh, forever socially awkward *slaps self*.
Princess Spa, Princess Traditional mani/pedi, Polish me manicure for my sister and Nail it! Signature spa, Polish me, Traditional manicure for me! Sounds confusing? I was confused at first too, I even asked the cashier twice. So basically, the services with “Princess” is for preteens and the price is lower of course. It doesn’t matter what size your feet are as long as you’re not older than twelve. I should know… my sister’s feet and hands are bigger than mine but she still got to avail it! daya haha.
with Jariss :)
Goodies! :3 Who doesn’t love free stuff? :D The loot: gift certificate from Unique Creations, quirky shoe ring from Sachico, ORLY nail posh in Goth, Nail it! Hand sanitizer and privilege card, Asian Vogue discount card + a little thank you note from Jariss a.k.a. Fashion Firewoman.
My sister and I totally loved our nails which we got polished in shades of pink. Thank you so much to Jariss for inviting me! And to Nail it for the free photobooth + yummy food. If you want to experience the best spa treatment in town, visit Nail it now. They have branches in Greenhills, Glorietta, Rockwell and more. You can check out their website here for more info.
PS. Who’s going to Bloggers United bazaar at Malayan Plaza Hotel on Friday, May 27? I’ll be helping out in the registration so please say hi if you’re a reader of my blog. I don’t bite *shy* I just look like I do haha, see you! :>

Chinese Rites
We visited our angkong’s (grandfather) grave 2 weeks ago because it’s All Soul’s day soon and just a matter of days before his body will be transferred for cremation. Let me share you a little something about one of the Chinese traditions that I still get to practice.

We light candles and incense sticks. You can see here my grandfather’s Chinese name inscribed in a tablet and his photo. I remember there was a bigger copy of that photo framed in our former house. When we were little, my cousin, sister and I would stare at it, turn off the lights and run while screaming “Hong Kong patay! Hong Kong patay!” :)) crazy kids.

Book fair and Lunch
camwhoring with the light during the ride haha ;)
My mom, who’s crazy about hotel hopping (odd hobby) and I ate lunch at Intercontinental Manila today. She’s been invinting me to go with her for the past two months and since it’s my term break, I finally agreed to go. :D The lunch was buffet style, there was a sushi bar, chocolate fountain and a lot more. Needless to say, I was so full after eating. D: After having lunch we attended the Manila International Book fair at the SMX convention center. They’re selling brand new books, bestsellers included, with up to 50% discounts! I bought 3 books (yes, only 3 :( no money during term breaks) supposedly for 860 php but I ended up having them for just around 600+ :D I am so excited to read these babies!! ♥ I can’t believe I’ve finally bought them especially The Last Time I Saw Mother. I’ve been dying to read the novel since I first checked it out in a bookstore a year ago. :3 Anyway, the book fair is until on Sunday only and the entrance fee is really cheap, it costs less than 20 pesos. So get your butt out there!! :p

Closet Cleanup
my 2 wooden closets… will hang those clothes up, ha very easy!
My sisters and I have a separate room for our cabinets, clothes and other stuff. That’s why it’s such a wonder how we can still manage to have huge, random piles of clothes in our bedroom. One of my term break goals is to clean up my closet and I’ve done quite a progress, big thanks to those who supported my closet sale! I met up with 3 customers yesterday and I’ll have some orders shipped tomorrow. :)
my 4 wooden drawers… will painstakingly fold these one by one T_T
I think the mess got worse when college started because every morning before I go to school I try on different clothes and if I don’t feel like wearing it I just hastily stuff them inside my cabinet or leave them lying somewhere. And that was the time I started buying, or should I say hoarding, in thrift shops so my clothes just kept on multiplying but I’m pretty sure they also hold orgys when I’m not around hahaha!
will sort out these clothes and put mine inside the cabinet… for sale clothes are kept inside an orange container and washed by me :3
Once or Twice a year, papy (my dad) asks us to gather clothes that we don’t use anymore for donation, usually without my mom knowing or when she’s away because it’s one of the things they fight about. Mom’s paranoid, she thinks papy’s throwing out her clothes secretly lol. Anyway, I really hope I can organize my things once and for all because I might get stuck with this bad habit forever and God knows what will become of my future house… scary. D:
Rest in Peace

Last July 14, our tiyang (my mama’s aunt) passed away…
It was my first time to attend a funeral and the first time in years our family had a “reunion”. My cousins are so grown up now! My last memory of them was playing bangsak in our Tita Baby’s house in Cavite haha! and a couple of birthdays and family reunions. Tiyang’s death was a surprise to all of us. Unfortunately, she had an accident during the black out because of bagyong Bashang in their big old house in Quezon City. What’s weird though is that she grew up in that house so she probably knew every step of the stairs but perhaps, it really is her time. We all just wished she didn’t die that way… she didn’t have to.
When we visited her during the wake, my little sister wondered why no one was awfully crying and people are just telling stories and stuff. We told her that it isn’t like what she sees in T.V. where families cry dramatically (hagulgol + lupasay sa floor) because Mama, Tita Baby and a lot of other people did cry privately and during Tiyang’s funeral.
I wrote and gave a eulogy for her in my Oralcom class where I surprisingly got a perfect score. It’s the least I can do for her… I guess, rest in peace tiyang. :)
When you have a 50 year old rocker shit dad…
They’re always in my bedroom doorway…
- Your house literally vibrates because of Led Zep songs played in full volume
- That stereo set in your living room will never get cobwebs
- Imagine all the people ♫… you already know the drill
- Your ears feel numb every Sunday coz that’s his “me day”
- Posters of The Beatles, framed and hung in every floor and every corner of your house
- He had hair longer than you’ll ever have when he was your age
and oh, dad’s drum set just came… he’s gonna take lessons this summer.
He said he wants to learn how to play it before he dies.
I love my rocker shit dad >:D
