A few months ago, I attended the wedding reception of a couple who were practically complete strangers to me. The groom is somehow related to me by blood but I have never met him prior to the event. My dad always gets invitations to events like these and he would always decline and ask me, my sisters and, my mom to come instead.
I understand my dad’s hostile response since weddings and wedding receptions are pretty much boring affairs. Honestly, I just go for the free food and the opportunity to dress-up. I barely know anyone from the weddings I’ve attended even though half of the people there are related to me. It makes me wonder if at some point, the newlyweds noticed us and wondered why we’re even there in the first place.
My sister and I attended VMV Hypoallergenics’ Skin Soiree at their skin research center in 117 C. Palanca St., Legazpi Village, Makati yesterday. Visitors were treated to a free makeover, discounts up to 50% off on products and services, free scrumptious snacks, first look on their VMVery Holiday Gifts Set and *drum roll* a tube of Ooh-La-Lash volumizing mascara worth 1,000 php which we got for free just by signing on the guestbook. :)
We were greeted by Pam (marketing coordinator) who was very friendly and accommodating. She asked us how we found out about the event, I told her I read about it at projectvanity.com a.k.a. the only beauty blog I religiously read. The make-up artist who did the makeovers was friendly too, she even complimented my outfit and said it reminded her of Una Rosa’s recent collection (she’s a fan, I think). Well, what a coincidence, my sister used to work for Una Rosa as junior designer. They were pretty surprised when they found out because they thought we were just about the same age. Sure I can pass off as 16 but here’s my 26 year old sister often mistaken as an 18 year old. Can’t. Beat. That. -_-

Anyway, here’s a little info about the brand: VMV has been around since 1979, making them one of the first hypoallergenic cosmeceuticals, and the first dermatologist-dermatopathologist skin care brand. My face still breaks out from time to time even though I’m already taking medication, it’s probably because of the cosmetics I use. I’ve been ingredient-wary for quite a while now (yes, I’m one of those people who actually read the ingredients list. I know… how geeky right? But it does pay off!) but it’s just so hard to find good products that don’t contain harsh ingredients. I’ll definitely be back here or in their other branches once my stash needs restocking and I’ve saved enough allowance to splurge. I got invited to Nail it! Salon’s branch grand opening at Greenhills last Saturday by Jariss (a fellow Benildean and Nail it’s head of marketing). I went there with my little sister, Jolina. She’s turning twelve this June but she’s almost as tall as me! I’m wearing 2 inch heels in that photobooth picture by the way. It’s scary how I’m starting to become the little sister. D:
We arrived at the venue around 7pm, the event started at 6. It was my first time in a long, long time to go to Greenhills so it took me a while to find “Connecticut Arcade”. But thank God, we got there safely. I expected to wait for half an hour for my turn since there were a lot of people waiting to be pampered but surprisingly it took less than 15 minutes. After we ate, they told us it’s our turn already.
The lovely miss Jean Uvero, (although you can’t see her loveliness in this photo lol) owner of Nail it! and Lay Bare waxing salon, taking photos of customers being pampered. Before I took this shot, I saw her smiling at me and looking as if she just took my photo or maybe, someone beside me… and I just stared at her. Guh, forever socially awkward *slaps self*.

I was confused at first too, I even asked the cashier twice. So basically, the services with “Princess” is for preteens and the price is lower of course. It doesn’t matter what size your feet are as long as you’re not older than twelve. I should know… my sister’s feet and hands are bigger than mine but she still got to avail it! daya haha.
