Thank you so much to Janina Cinco of Cheapest Stuff for these gifts! :D I received a lovely beige loose cardigan and black lace skirt from her sometime ago. What I love about these items is that they are wardrobe staples; you can practically mix and match them with any piece. If you want to score chic thrifted stuff but are too busy to hunt for good finds at an ukay-ukay, head over to their shop!
On another note, last night, there were 2 guys who kept on staring at me while I was walking alone to Trinoma. I gave them a disgusted look but then they started saying “hi miss” and other bullcrap, from a distance. Having a vague feeling that I’m going the wrong way and after escaping my bridge ordeal (I’m afraid of crossing bridges, some sort of anxiety, no kidding) just a few minutes before. I wasn’t in the mood to put up with their crap (or anyone else’s for that matter) so I flipped them off.
I don’t usually do that even if some people badly deserve it. It’s a common experience for girls to be verbally harassed (in some degree) when they commute alone and most of us just ignore it. But a girl can only take so much especially if she was PMSing. I hoped they liked the pretty cocktail ring that was sitting on my middle finger because I did.

Budding Wanderlust
18 years of living in a tropical country and never been to a beach. Well, except if you count that 6th grade field trip where we we stopped over at one but didn’t even do anything worthwhile such as swimming. Come to think of it, it’s awfully ridiculous. Who would go to a beach and not swim? Conservative nuns who run Catholic schools that’s who. It’s almost as ridiculous as the first sentence on this post.
time to put these bikinis to good use!
Here’s another thing: I don’t have a passport. It didn’t really matter to me before but when I started having foreigners, kids who grew up in different countries and of course kids who have jet setters for parents as classmates in college I realized how having one is almost mandatory. When I tell them I don’t have a passport yet and never been out of the country, I get reactions like I just told them I don’t have a birth certificate or worse, that I eat roasted penguins for lunch. Okay, okay… I’m exaggerating.
H&M floral clip, mom’s pasalubong from their Hong Kong trip
I mentioned in my blog before that I was going to make a teenage bucket list (things I need/want/have to do before I turn into a wrinkly, responsibility-ridden adult) on my 19th birthday this December and this is definitely going to be a part of it. I just hope my sister keeps her word on that Boracay trip this summer. And yes mom, I’m going to arrange a passport already.
What bothered me was my lack of wanderlust (n. a very strong or irresistible impulse to travel.) I’m so tigang (in the wanderlust sense *ahem*), I’m the most poorly travelled person I know. Maybe I have my motion sickness; the car rides tainted by awful memories of throwing up from my childhood, my family who rarely take out of town/country trips except for my dad who goes to Taiwan for business matters or perhaps, my ol’ introvert boring self and the books I read that took me to places by words to blame. But it has finally come, the desire to travel. I want to see more of the world. :)

Kung Fu Panda 2 and Nanos
Last Tuesday, the boyfriend and I watched Kung Fu Panda 2. We were supposed to watch Hangover 2 but apparently, it’s not being shown in SM Cinemas because it’s R-18. It didn’t bother me that much since I haven’t watched its prequel but Kev was pretty disappointed so we decided to watch another movie instead.
While we were falling in line at the ticket booth deciding what to watch, he suggested Insidious but I said “no, it’s horrible!! I’ve read reviews about it in the internet” (don’t take my word for it though). I suggested X-Men: First Class instead because I remembered the times I used to play Capcom vs Marvel in PS 1 when I was a litol girl *nostalgic* (raise your hand if you played that game too) but he insisted we watch Kung Fu Panda 2 and I just stared at him. Kung Fu Panda 2, r u srs?
And then he showed his puppy doggy eyes and said “but it’s cute…” :( and I was like awww okay we’ll watch that. He assured me that it’s funny and that I’ll love it. And as it turns out… I did!! :3 I haven’t watched Kung Fu Panda 1 so I didn’t know what the story was all about but after watching part 2, I guess it’s safe to say that it is undeniably an adorable movie plus, the graphics are awesome! And very different from the crappy gray blob I’ve been doing in Maya at my 3D animation class lol.
But before that, we ate first at Nanos (A Piece of Italy in the City). You probably haven’t heard of this fast food yet because their newly opened branch in SM Manila is their first one here in the metro! :) It was our second time to dine there. I ordered a slice of Nano Italiano pizza a.k.a. the huge ass pizza (as Kev and I would like to call it) for 149 php. It’s bigger than your usual, the photo above doesn’t do its actual size any justice and it’s really yummy too.
Actually, I wasn’t able to finish it so I had it wrapped and ate it while watching the movie. The boyfriend ordered a slice of white pizza for 85 php (photo above), which he later regretted because it tasted bland, and a plate of Ziti with garlic bread for 136 php (photo below), which I think was served rather small compared with the Nano Italiano pizza but it tasted pretty good.
I loved the fast food’s stylish interior, too bad I don’t have any photos of it shown. Anyway, Nanos is located in the lower ground, near Food Court. One thing I noticed though, the staff kept on staring at us for some reason… and yes, it did freak me out a bit. I suddenly remembered all those stories I heard about restaurants serving human flesh gaah. D:
Btw, I also dropped by Etude House since it was the last day of their grand sale; 20% off on all products! :> Here’s my mini haul… will blog about them soon. ;)

My First Day in College
First term started three weeks ago so I’ve been a bit busy lately… being a junior and all. It’s funny whenever I see a group of frosh (it’s very easy to spot them since they always travel in packs… yes, like wolves) I’m always reminded at how I was like two years ago. Have I ever told you how my first day in college went? Well… I went to class on time but when I entered the classroom, everyone was already there and they seemed to be having a lively discussion. It was really puzzling and even more so when I noticed the students looked a lot older than me which made me feel tiny and insecure, thinking everyone in college look so mature while I look so young. :( I looked around for empty seats but there weren’t any left so this guy offered his chair and sat on the concrete floor instead. It was really embarrassing but I managed to say “thank you” meekly. The prof continued talking about house rules when she suddenly mentioned something about language. It was only then that I realized I made a huge mistake. I accidentally went inside the wrong classroom… my subject was supposed to be Algebra!! PANIC O_O I immediately grabbed the attendance sheet from my seatmate and crossed out my name. When the prof dismissed the class, I was the first person to head for the door. :))

Coffee shop dates

I just got home! Security guards are starting to get freaky lately. The LRT guard in Vito Cruz greeted me with his pa-cute voice: annyeong haseyo… nihao! Which means hello in Korean and Chinese. Then the one in Monumento greeted me “Hi sexy”. Mind you, she’s a woman. LOL :)) Anyway, Nads sat in on my Freehand class earlier, where I was hurrying to finish my midterm sketch… which I didn’t know was due today. :| After class, we had a date at Starbucks. It’s been so long! D: We used to go there almost everyday to kill time during our breaks. But now we barely get to do that because we have too many plates to finish.

We both had foodgasm when we tasted this pecan butterscotch pastry and Starbucks’ Christmas specials: Toffee nut Latte and Praline Mocha. The cashier gave us promo cards which I’m hoping to complete before 2011 starts. Although, I don’t think I can, due to lack of motivation since I’m not really a planner person. I’ll just probably give my card to anyone who’s collecting, you can add my stickers to yours. :) And surprisingly the barista got Nads’ name right, they usually write “Nats”. He got my name wrong though, he wrote “Che” instead of “Je” >__>

Nads told me about her new guy who turned out to be my eldest sister’s prom date back when she was in high school. Small world isn’t it? I’ve been experiencing this “small world phenomenon” too much lately. Like how Val Chua knows Chai (it seems like awesome people had this way of knowing other awesome people, lol). I only knew about it when Val sent me this long message in my tumblr ask which I never really expected. I got so kilig! :3 She’s such an inspiration; she’s so talented, pretty and nice. :D Now I’m acting like a total fan girl haha. :))
Chinese Rites
We visited our angkong’s (grandfather) grave 2 weeks ago because it’s All Soul’s day soon and just a matter of days before his body will be transferred for cremation. Let me share you a little something about one of the Chinese traditions that I still get to practice.

We light candles and incense sticks. You can see here my grandfather’s Chinese name inscribed in a tablet and his photo. I remember there was a bigger copy of that photo framed in our former house. When we were little, my cousin, sister and I would stare at it, turn off the lights and run while screaming “Hong Kong patay! Hong Kong patay!” :)) crazy kids.

Helpless
Last Saturday, my friend Nads almost got mugged near CSB’s AKIC building. She was walking with her cellphone on her hand when a man suddenly walked alongside with her and started grabbing the phone. Nads wouldn’t let go of it, she was really fighting back (she showed me scratches in her hands which looks awfully painful) but the man was equally persistent. He only ran away when our friend Annie who knows Taekwondo and who was with Nads at that time shouted at him. The man thought they weren’t together since there were almost no people in the area. I was upset and worried when I heard about the incident. It was really fortunate that they were together at that time and the man didn’t have any weapon with him. I wondered if it was me who was there instead of Annie. Nads could have gotten hurt and I won’t be able to do anything about it. Imagine a tall girl like her (she’s 5’7”) got attacked by a smaller guy. If it was me who’ve tried to fend him off he’d just probably laugh since I’m petite and have no training whatsoever. It could happen again, it could happen anytime and anywhere but what bothers me most is the reality that if I was put in a situation like that I cannot do anything about it. I cannot save or protect my friends… I might not even be able to protect myself. :(
